Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Last updated: June 2026

RGBlind ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website rgblind.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

  • No Account Required: You can use all features without creating an account
  • Analytics: We use Google Analytics to understand how our service is used

  • Mobile App: Our Android app (RGBlind) processes camera frames and photos locally on your device and shows ads via Google AdMob — see the "RGBlind Mobile App" section below

Information We Collect

Personal Data

While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). This may include:

  • Email address (if you contact us)
  • Usage data and analytics information
  • Device and browser information
  • IP address and location data

Image Data

Important: Images you upload or capture are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript and Web Workers. We do not upload, store, or have access to your images on our servers. All image processing happens locally on your device.

Camera/Webcam Access

Our Color Blindness Simulator tool (/color-blindness-simulator) includes a webcam mode that requests access to your device's camera. This feature allows you to test real-time color vision simulation using your camera feed.

Camera Usage:

  • Camera access is optional and only requested when you choose to use the webcam mode
  • You must explicitly grant permission through your browser's permission prompt
  • All camera feed processing happens locally in your browser - we never record, store, or transmit your camera feed to our servers
  • You can revoke camera permission at any time through your browser settings
  • The camera is only active while you're using the webcam simulator feature

Usage Data

We may also collect information on how the Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include:

  • Your computer's Internet Protocol address (IP address)

Google Services

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze the use of our website. Google Analytics gathers information about website use by means of cookies. The information gathered relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of our website.

Google's privacy policy is available at: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our website. Google AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites on the Internet.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our sites and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Note: If you have not opted out of third-party ad serving, the cookies of other third-party vendors or ad networks may also be used to serve ads on our site. You can visit those ad network websites to opt out of personalized advertising cookies (if the vendor or ad network offers this capability). Alternatively, you can visit www.aboutads.info to opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising.

RGBlind Mobile App (Android)

In addition to the website rgblind.com, we publish the RGBlind Android application (packagecom.rgblind.app) on the Google Play Store. This section describes how the mobile app handles your data. Where the website and the app differ, the disclosures in this section govern the mobile app.

Data we do not collect in the app

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or postal address.
  • Precise or approximate location (the app does not request the location permission).
  • Contacts, calendar, SMS, or any account credentials.
  • The contents of the camera preview or any photo you select. These are processed in memory on your device and are never uploaded.
  • Audio. The app does not request the microphone permission.

Camera and photos in the app

The camera permission is requested only when you open the live Camera tab. Frames are converted into a filtered preview and immediately discarded — they are never written to storage or transmitted off the device. When you pick a photo from your gallery and tap Share, a temporary PNG of the filtered image is written to the app's private cache directory so the system share sheet can read it; that file never leaves the device unless you yourself choose a destination in the share sheet.

Data collected by Firebase Analytics inside the app

The Firebase Analytics SDK (a Google service) is embedded in the app to give us anonymized usage statistics — how many people open the app, which countries they're in, which tabs they use, and how long sessions last. Firebase automatically collects the following on each session:

  • App-open and session events — timestamps of when the app starts and ends a session.
  • Screen-view events — which tab or screen is shown (Camera, Photo, Privacy, etc.).
  • App instance ID — a random ID generated by Firebase to deduplicate sessions; not tied to your real identity.
  • Coarse device info — model, OS version, language, country (derived from IP, then discarded).
  • App version — the version of RGBlind you're running.

Firebase Analytics does not collect your name, email, photos, or the contents of your camera. We use the data only in aggregate, to understand how the app is used and to prioritize improvements. You can opt out of analytics collection at any time by disabling "Personalized ads" in your Android settings or by uninstalling the app. See Google's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Data collected by Google AdMob inside the app

The Google Mobile Ads SDK embedded in the app collects the following from your device on each ad request, in order to display and measure ads:

  • Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID) — for ad selection, frequency capping, and fraud prevention. You can reset or delete this identifier at any time in your device settings.
  • IP address (during the ad request) — for coarse geographic targeting and fraud prevention.
  • Coarse device information — model, OS version, screen size, language — for ad-format selection.
  • Network state — whether the device is online — so we don't issue ad requests while offline.

RGBlind itself does not receive, store, or forward any of the data above. It is transmitted by the Google Mobile Ads SDK directly to Google. See Google's policy for full details: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Permissions the app requests

  • CAMERA — for the live preview on the Camera tab. Revoke at any time in Settings → Apps → RGBlind → Permissions.
  • INTERNET — for ad requests in the release build (also used by Flutter hot-reload in debug builds, which are not distributed on Google Play).

No other dangerous permissions are requested. In particular, the app does not request RECORD_AUDIO, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, READ_CONTACTS, or READ_PHONE_STATE.

Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland (UMP consent)

When you use the app from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the first time the app loads ads it presents a consent form powered by Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). The form asks whether you consent to personalized advertising. Your choice is stored on your device and respected on every subsequent ad request. You can change your choice at any time from the in-app Privacy screen.

Children

The mobile app is not directed at children under the applicable minimum age in your country (13 in most jurisdictions, 16 in parts of the EEA). The Google Mobile Ads SDK is initialized without the "Tag For Child-Directed Treatment" (TFCD) and "Tag For Users Under the Age of Consent" (TFUA) flags set, because the app is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

How to opt out of personalized ads on mobile

  • Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Delete advertising ID (or Reset advertising ID) and enable Opt out of Ads Personalization.
  • In the EEA/UK/Switzerland: re-open the consent form from the in-app Privacy screen and decline personalized ads.
  • Google account-level controls: adssettings.google.com.

Data retention (mobile)

RGBlind retains nothing about you on its own servers — it has none. Data transmitted to Google by the Mobile Ads SDK is retained per Google's published retention rules.
